SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior Draftsperson will play a key role in the design and development of detailed drawings and models for complex civil, structural, and marine engineering projects. This position involves leading drafting efforts, ensuring quality control, and collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality design documents that meet project and client requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the preparation and coordination of detailed CAD for bridges, waterfront structures, and marine facilities.
- Develop and oversee topographic and surface mapping, site contour generation, and 3D modeling.
- Review, update, and maintain design standards and drawing templates to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Provide quality assurance/quality control for drawings and models produced by the drafting team.
- Generate and modify complex civil and structural design plan sets, including as-built representations.
- Develop and manage Building Information Models (BIM) to support design coordination.
- Collaborate with engineers and field staff to translate survey data and design concepts into accurate drawings.
- Provide technical guidance to drafters and technicians.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree or formal training or a certificate in computer-aided drafting and design, civil engineering technology, or a related field.

4+ years of experience in computer-aided drafting and design, preferably within civil, structural, or marine engineering.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Experience with 3D modeling and civil/structural detailing.

Strong understanding of drafting standards, layer management, and file organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in MicroStation and Revit.

Experience developing and managing BIM models

Familiarity with GIS or hydrographic mapping software.

Previous experience in bridge, waterfront, or marine infrastructure projects.

COMPENSATION
The hourly pay range for positions in New Jersey is $35 to $47 an hour, depending on education and relevant experience.
