SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Contract & Risk Manager position has authority, responsibility, and accountability for the implementation, management, and oversight of company contractual, risk, bonding, insurance processes, policies, and programs. To fulfill these obligations, the Contract & Risk Manager must be able to prepare, review, and negotiate complex contractual and other related business documents evaluate and mitigate company operational and project risks, and evaluate and oversee company insurance policies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, review, revise, negotiate, and execute contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, purchase orders, nondisclosure agreements, liability waivers, and other related documents in consultation with company management and client representatives. 
  • Communicate key contract clauses and provide guidance on contractual matters to company project managers and management. 
  • Develop fiscal, regulatory, operational, reputational, strategic, and legal risk mitigation and management processes, policies, and programs. 
  • Proactively identify company operational and project risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks in consultation with company management. 
  • Review company insurance coverage, recommend necessary changes, support company management during insurance renewals, and annual audits. 
  • Procure special-need insurance coverages (RPL, OCIP, DBA, CPL, International, etc.) as required. 
  • Generate and provide certificates of insurance, bid, performance, payment bonds, overseeing bonding capacity. and similar documents. 
  • Manage company property, vehicle, equipment insurance claims, and work with Human Resources on worker's compensation. 
  • Prepare, review, and maintain company property, vehicle, and equipment leases. 
  • Maintain company contract, risk insurance, and lease documentation records. 
  • Manage broker relationships. 
  • Evaluate subcontractors and vendors insurance prequalification.
  • Participate in company management meetings and work to actively resolve contract risk, insurance, and lease- related issues. 

 

YOU WILL NEED

  • Strong technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in area of practice. 
  • Strong proficiency in computer-assisted software. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • High-level ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, risk management, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in engineering, business, risk management, or a related field
  • NCMA, CCMA, CCCM, CFCM, and/or CPCM Certification
  • PMI or RIMS Certified Risk Management Professional 
  • IRMI Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS)
  • SCCE Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • PMP Certificate
